The panda's name comes from the Nepalese word 'Nigalya Ponya'.  The Nepalese term ‘Nigalya Ponya‘ literally translates to ‘eater of bamboo’.  The word Ponya later became panda in the Western Regions, which explains why we call them pandas today.  Another fun fact is that pandas are only about the length of a pencil when they are born, blind and pink.  But they grow quickly while shielded by their mother's love!  And did you also know that there are also only an estimated 1,800 pandas left in the wild today?  These beautiful creatures are in critical danger of becoming extinct.  When you buy one of these panda pendants, you will also be contributing to efforts to conserve pandas and their habitat through the world wildlife fund.  Portions of each sale are donated to this fund.

Each of my pieces is digitally sculpted with much care.  This panda is completely sculpted, on all sides and the bottom, and is solid metal.  They are cast in the metal of your choice, and antiqued and polished by hand.  The metal is given a matte finish, which helps the intricate details stand out even more.  

This pendant is completely solid and measures over an inch long.  It is solid metal and is quite heavy!  It is a strong and quality made piece.
